Chris Brown is an American singer, songwriter, dancer, and actor. According to Billboard, Brown is one of the most successful R&B singers of his generation, having often been referred to by many contemporaries as the "King of R&B".
He won a Grammy for best R&B album with his album fame in 2011, he has also amassed an estimated net worth of $30 million and worked with some of the best artists in the business, including Busta Rhymes, Lil Wayne, Kid Inc., Pitfall, Nicki Minaj, The Game, Future, Rick Ross, and, of course, Dj Khaled.

He started performing at a young age, singing and dancing for his family and friends, the church choir, talent shows, and other gatherings. However, following his parents' divorce, he was forced to move in with his mother and a violent stepfather.

Christopher Maurice Brown was born on May 5th, 1989 in the small hamlet of Tappahannock, Virginia, with a small population of 2000 people. He has Native American Pamucky ancestry in addition to being African-American. His father, Clinton Brown, worked as a prisons officer at a nearby jail, and his mother, Joyce Hawkins, is a former nursery director.
Latrell, another sister of his, works at a bank. Chris was already teaching himself to sing and dance at the age of two. He adored the soul albums his parents possessed before becoming more interested in pop and hip-hop.
Michael Jackson, and subsequently Usher, were his favorite musicians to watch and learn from. He participated in church choir and primary school plays before landing the title role in "Alphys," an Elvis-inspired Christmas play.
His parents separated about this time, and his mother's new boyfriend—later her husband—was violently abusive. Chris saw his mother being beaten and bleeding from the nose. He had been living with this man and was constantly afraid. On the plus side, he was having amazing success with the women, having his first sexual encounter at the age of only eight. When Chris was 13 years old, a talent scout came to his small town and scheduled auditions at a gas station. Chris dazzled the audience with his singing and dancing, and as a result, a demo was created and distributed in New York City.
Young Chris was a potential athlete in addition to being good at music, dance, and attracting the ladies. While still in sixth grade, he participated in basketball for the team of eighth graders. He played point guard for the basketball team while he was a student at Essex County High School. Despite his skill as a player, he regularly had to leave matches in order to concentrate on his music career.
However, Tina Davis, who was employed at Def Jam Records at the time, received his demo. Chris received an audition from Tina in front of L.A. Reid, who made an immediate offer to sign him. The negotiation went on for months till Tina lost her job as a result of a company merger. Chris later appointed her as his manager, and she sparked a bidding war for the rising star between Jive Records, J Records, and Warner Brothers.
Chris ultimately made the choice to sign with Jive and did so in 2004 as a result of the work Jive had done to advance the careers of Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake.
The following year, he moved to New York and dropped out of high school, which was a wise decision at the time because back home, his temper had gotten the better of him and he had gotten into a fight with another kid at a basketball game.
